An International AI Treaty
We call for an international treaty on AI that establishes :
- A moratorium on the development of AI systems more powerful than current frontiers, until adequate safety standards are developed
- International verification mechanisms to ensure compliance with this moratorium
- An international body responsible for coordinating AI governance, similar to the IAEA for nuclear energy
National Regulatory Framework
At the national and European level, we call for :
- Mandatory safety assessments before deploying powerful AI systems
- Strict transparency requirements on AI system capabilities and training data
- Democratic accountability mechanisms for AI systems that affect citizens’ lives
- Protection for AI safety whistleblowers who raise concerns about dangerous systems
Corporate Responsibility
We call on AI companies to :
- Voluntarily pause the development of systems exceeding current safety thresholds
- Invest in safety research at least as much as in capabilities research
- Publish safety assessments independently verified before each major new deployment
Support for Affected Workers
A transition to a world with more powerful AI must be managed fairly :
- Retraining programs for workers whose jobs are displaced by AI
- Adaptation of social protection systems to respond to job losses caused by automation
- Fair distribution of the economic gains generated by AI
