Values Charter

Our Core Values

1. Scientific Rigor

We base our positions on the best available scientific evidence about AI risks. We are honest about what we know and what remains uncertain, and we update our positions when new evidence emerges.

2. Urgency and Action

We believe AI risks are real, serious, and require immediate action. We are not content to simply raise awareness — we act to bring about the political and regulatory changes needed to address these risks.

3. Respect and Openness

We treat all people with respect, including those who disagree with us. We are open to dialogue and debate, and we recognize that reasonable people can disagree on complex questions.

4. Non-Violence

We are committed to non-violent advocacy in all our actions. We believe change must come through democratic persuasion, not coercion.

5. Inclusion and Diversity

We believe that AI governance concerns all of humanity, not just technical experts. We seek to include diverse voices and perspectives in our movement, and we actively work to make our community welcoming and inclusive.

6. Transparency

We are transparent about our funding, our governance, and our decision-making. We hold ourselves accountable to our members and the broader public.

7. Collaboration

We see ourselves as part of a broader ecosystem of organizations and individuals working on AI governance. We actively seek to collaborate with allied organizations and avoid unnecessary competition.

8. Long-Term Perspective

We keep the long-term wellbeing of humanity and all sentient beings in mind in our work. We are concerned not only with immediate risks, but also with ensuring that AI development leads to a future that is genuinely good for everyone.
